Background
Maktaba Books is a peer-to-peer community library. Books that have been collecting dust on your shelves are given life again when they are borrowed by one of our readers for free.
Their mission is to increase access to knowledge, especially for books on Islam and Malay Studies, and to further build up the Malay-Muslim community in Singapore.
They provide 2 main type of services:
- Peer-to-Peer Library: User list their books on the platform and borrow from each other for free
- Book clubs: Events where attendees discuss about book

How we helped them
They needed a website that allows users to browse books listed on their platform and borrow from each other without much human intervention. To solve this we custom build a solution using a combination of WordPress, Make automation, a database system, and email. We’re helping them to role out the platform in 3 phases and right now they’re on phase 2 where they’ve shifted user communication from Telegram to email and automated & simplified the uploading of book information to the system by just using the book’s ISBN number which will pull all the required information (title, author, summary, and image) through an API.
